Intermediate Infrastructure Architect

The Intermediate Infrastructure Architect will help to design, document and implement the technical infrastructure required to support enterprise health informatics solutions. While specialized knowledge in a particular area may be valuable, this individual must possess a broad understanding of various infrastructure domains, from networks to server administration. Whether as a team member on large engagements or leading smaller projects independently, the Intermediate Infrastructure Architect is a key member of the Gevity team.

 

As a client-facing role, this position requires more than just technical knowledge – communication, business analysis and client management skills are essential. The ideal candidate will combine technical skills with the ability to elicit business and technical requirements from multiple sources, critically evaluate the information gathered, reconcile any conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a general understanding, and distinguish user requests from the underlying business and technical needs.

Responsibilities

·      Contribute to the development of solution architecture & design documentation to ensure system infrastructure meets requirements for performance, security, business continuity, and disaster recovery

o   The Intermediate Infrastructure Architect will have a particular focus on the physical design and infrastructure-oriented aspects of logical and conceptual designs, but will may contribute to all aspects of the solution

·      Analyze existing systems and identify solutions to improve performance, reduce costs, mitigate risks related to security and business continuity or achieve other goals identified by the client

·      Use stakeholder engagement techniques to gain consensus on various aspects of the solution architecture, from goals and principles to proposed solutions

·      Apply project management best practices and principles to manage their own work and lead small projects as required

·      The Infrastructure Architect will focus primarily on serving clients, but may from time to time be asked to contribute to various corporate initiatives

Key Competencies and Requirements
Education and Certifications
Required

·      Undergraduate degree in computer science, health informatics, or equivalent

o   Equivalent education and experience may be considered

·      At least one of the certifications identified under Preferred, below

 

Preferred

·      ITIL v3 (Foundation or higher)

·      Certification in one or more widely accepted architectural frameworks (e.g. TOGAF)

·      Microsoft certification (e.g. MTA, MCSA or MCSE) in relevant competency areas/technologies

·      Networking certification (e.g. CCIE)

·      Information security certification (CISSP, HCISPP, CISA, CRISC, etc.)

 

Experience
Required

·      Minimum 5 years’ experience implementing and/or managing enterprise IT infrastructure

·      Experience leading or playing a significant role in the development of the infrastructure architecture of large-scale IT solutions

·      Experience creating and maintaining technical documentation, especially IT infrastructure & architecture documentation

·      Experience working as a member of a project team

·      Experience eliciting and documenting requirements

 

Preferred

·      Healthcare and/or consulting experience (strongly preferred)

·      Team leadership or project management experience

·      Information security experience

·      Experience with infrastructure or data center migration projects

·      Experience with multiple technology stacks or infrastructure domains (e.g. Windows and Linux; network administration and server administration, etc.)

·      Experience working with remote or geographically distributed teams

 

Skills & Other Requirements

·      Excellent communication (both verbal and written) and documentation skills

·      Ability to mentor junior staff

·      Self-motivated and independent; able to work without frequent direction and willing to seek information or direction when required

·      Ability to lead small teams or work streams

·      Ability and willingness to travel globally for extended periods of time is preferred but not mandatory
