Proposal Team Manager

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Proposal Team, the primary role of the proposal manager is to positively drive our win-rates by ensuring, among other things, that Gevity proposals are of the highest quality in terms of content, approach and packaging.  Acting as the primary liaison between our global bid team and the business leads assigned to an opportunity, the proposal manager will take an active role in supporting the business development manager and business leads in developing winning approaches and pitches.

This role oversees Gevity’s proposal processes, strengthening existing processes and devising fresh approaches that help the company to meet our goal of producing winning proposals in the most efficient, effective manner possible.


  • Lead proposal team members based in various locations in Canada as well as Asia Pacific
  • Review proposal outlines and validate approaches with proposal team members and branch staff and review proposals to ensure the highest level of quality in all completed proposals
  • Mentor the proposal coordinators in effectively understanding requirements and creating accurate, complete and customer-focused responses to formal RFPs, informal proposals, and other procurement vehicles
  • Take a lead role in effectively understanding requirements and creating accurate, complete and customer-focused responses to formal RFPs, informal proposals, and other procurement vehicles
  • Actively participate in bid strategy sessions with key stakeholders
  • Ensure that all proposal deadlines (internal and external) are met
  • Collaborate with key internal business partners such as consultants, managing partners, the management team and subject matter experts to drive strategy and create compelling proposals
  • Lead the ongoing development of best practices and streamlining of processes and tools to effectively manage ever-increasing workflow volume
  • Set benchmarks that promote consistency and professionalism in all proposal responses
  • Author and quality assure various types of bid collateral

Required Skills and Qualifications

The successful proposal team manager will have the following skills:

  • Proven experience as well as a desire to work and excel in a fast-paced, high performance environment
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a functional team while working in a highly collaborative, accountability oriented, dynamic, and geographically distributed organization
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) and exceptional skills in writing, reviewing and editing project proposals, business cases or similar materials, including the ability to effectively frame sophisticated approaches and methods in response to challenging client projects and procurement requirements
  • Demonstrated experience (10+ years) and knowledge of the information technology industry, the project management life cycle and the systems development life cycle
  • Experience in a health, social services or life sciences setting preferred
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation and general writing skills, ideally in both English and French
  • Demonstrated capability to successfully engage in multiple initiatives simultaneously
  • Leadership and participation in developing tools and processes to support the proposal management function
  • Experience and a desire to lead, to mentor and to contribute
  • Comfortable and ready for the challenge of working across multiple time zones
  • Degree in a relevant discipline preferred
  • Demonstrated drive, initiative, and ability to work independently in a fast-paced dynamic environment and to adapt creatively and successfully to change
